With WWDC 2026 just 11 days away, Bloomberg has released renders of the new Siri in iOS 27. According to reports, this update is not just a redesigned interface, but a transformation of Siri from a traditional voice assistant into something more like a chatbot, with its access points expanded to multiple locations within the system.

Add a standalone chat application

Leaked information reveals that Apple will provide a standalone app for Siri, allowing users to view past conversations and continue asking questions within the app. A "Search or Ask a Question" panel will also appear after swiping down from the top of the system, supporting text and voice input, functioning similarly to the existing Spotlight search.

The new interface will also integrate Dynamic Island. When a user activates Siri, an expanded animation will appear at the top, displaying the result card. Reports suggest this is the most significant redesign of Siri since its launch in 2011.

The underlying model is reportedly being replaced by Gemini.

The report mentions that Apple first showcased "personalized Siri" at WWDC 2024, hoping it could understand screen content, messages, and calendar information, but it has been delayed multiple times since then. Apple officially acknowledged the upgrade delay in March 2025 due to product quality issues.

Subsequently, Apple faced a class-action lawsuit over allegations of misrepresentation regarding Apple Intelligence. Earlier this month, a federal court approved a $250 million settlement, with eligible iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 users eligible to claim up to $95 per device.

Bloomberg reports that the redesigned Siri will not run on Apple's proprietary model, but rather on Google's Gemini technology. The report also states that Apple has reached a licensing agreement with Google by the end of 2025, with an annual fee of approximately $1 billion.

AI added to camera and photo apps

In addition to the chat application, the renders also show that Siri will be integrated into the camera app as a separate shooting mode, replacing the existing Visual Intelligence button. After taking a photo, users can directly send the image to a third-party AI service for processing, such as image recognition or content analysis.

Apple also plans to add more AI editing tools to the Photos app, including Reframe to adjust perspective and Extend to complete content at the edges of the image. iOS 27 may also include natural language versions of Shortcuts, AI wallpaper generation, and system-wide grammar checking.

The report also mentioned that these designs may still be adjusted before the WWDC launch on June 8, as Apple usually tests multiple versions internally before finalizing them.

Visual AI extends to more hardware

The report suggests that the AI entry point in the camera not only serves the iPhone but is also related to Apple's future hardware plans. Apple is reportedly developing AirPods and smart glasses with integrated cameras, hoping to directly hand over visual information to Siri for processing.

If this direction progresses, the camera AI mode on the iPhone will be the first step for users to experience visual AI. According to reports, AirPods with cameras may be launched as early as the end of 2026, while smart glasses are targeted for 2027.

Bloomberg also stated that the new version of Siri may be launched to consumers as early as September this year, along with the next generation of iPhones.
