Venus Protocol has released a statement regarding the THE market attack. This incident affected the Venus Core market, while Venus Flux was unaffected. The team stated that this was not a flash loan attack; the attackers had been accumulating THE tokens over the past nine months and exploited a supply cap execution vulnerability in the protocol's legacy code to bypass the 14.5 million THE supply cap by directly transferring funds to the protocol contract. The attackers then manipulated the THE price using the low liquidity of the on-chain DEX, continuously amplifying the collateral value through a recursive loop (borrowing assets, exchanging them for THE to drive up the price, and then injecting them back into the market). Venus has currently suspended the THE market and set its collateralization factor (CF) to 0. As a precaution, it has also suspended collateralization functionality in the BCH, LTC, AAVE, POL, FIL, TWT, UNI, and LISUSD markets. Venus Labs is investigating with security partners and will release a full post-incident report.

🔔Venus Protocol: THE Market Incident Originated from Supply Cap Vulnerability, Not Flash Loan Attack According to Mars Finance, Venus Protocol issued a statement regarding the THE market incident, stating that the incident was not a flash loan attack, but rather caused by an attacker exploiting a supply cap vulnerability in the protocol's old code. The team stated that the attacker accumulated THE tokens over approximately nine months, gradually establishing a dominant supply position on Venus. The announcement indicated that the attacker bypassed the normal deposit process by directly transferring THE tokens into the protocol contract, thereby exceeding the 14.5 million THE supply cap limit. They then manipulated the DEX price by exploiting the low on-chain liquidity. Once the external price was gradually reflected by the TWAP oracle, the attacker used the inflated collateral value to repeatedly borrow assets (such as CAKE, BNB, etc.), then bought more THE to push up the price, continuously transferring THE into the vTHE market to further increase the collateral value. This cycle at one point pushed the price from approximately $0.27 to approximately $0.53, ultimately leaving bad debt in the protocol after the position was liquidated. Venus has announced the suspension of the THE market, reducing its collateral factor to 0 and halting withdrawals. As a precautionary measure, the collateral factors for eight other markets—BCH, LTC, AAVE, POL, FIL, TWT, UNI, and LISUSD—have also been reduced to 0. The team and security partners are continuing their investigation and will release a full post-incident analysis report later.

Polygon PoS is the most widely used blockchain, yet it remains relatively unknown. In February alone, it processed 493 million transactions, exceeding the combined total of Solana, Base, Arbitrum, and Ethereum. Where did these transactions originate? Polymarket? Not at all. It now handles 30% of on-chain stablecoin transactions: Revolut, Stripe, and Mastercard have all quietly integrated Polygon's payment channels. Its usage is real, and it comes from places most cryptocurrency practitioners haven't even noticed. • Nearly 500 million on-chain stablecoin transactions • Monthly on-chain revenue grew 7x, reaching a multi-year high since 2023 • Monthly $POL burning reached the second-highest level ever, an 800% increase since December 2025 • At its peak, approximately 1 million $POL were burned daily • Every transaction burns $POL, resulting in an annual burning rate of approximately 3.5%. Even considering a 2% inflation rate, what you're seeing is still a net deflationary range, equivalent to three times the Aave buyback rate. The biggest catalyst has yet to materialize. If Coinme receives full approval from US regulators, Polygon will become a direct fiat currency gateway, significantly boosting these numbers. The vast majority of chains from the last cycle ceased operation after the Token Generator (TGE). It's encouraging to see established projects like Coinme still contributing to the industry. In short, I wanted to share this interesting data. I like to look for projects where the fundamentals are improving, but the price hasn't caught up yet.

According to PolygonScan, Polygon's network transaction fees reached 2.776 million POL (approximately $264,000) on February 13th, marking the third-highest single-day transaction fee in the network's history. A prediction market contributed 66.7% of the transaction fees to the Polygon network. Notably, since September of last year, the contribution of this prediction market to Polygon's daily fees has surged from 5% to over 65%.
