Many who experienced the "Ethereum killer" hype around 2018 prematurely dismissed other blockchains. Back then, we believed that after the failures of projects like EOS and Tezos, Ethereum would be the only option. I held onto this belief until 2021. Others took much longer to realize they were misled. Some still haven't realized it. Fortunately, I run Nansen, so: 1/ I can see the actual actions of users on the chain, and 2/ I can hear users' needs for the blockchain. Solana is a prime example. Ethereum proponents should have reconsidered their "Ethereum killer" rhetoric. However, Solana was ridiculed as only suitable for "memecoins." (Anyone who has used Solana knows this is an oversimplification.) Solana will exist for a long time. Ethereum will also exist for a long time, but it is no longer the only option. Today, we are at a moment where some refuse to face another fact: The era of hyperliquidity has arrived. And it will exist for a long time. This reminds me of those who ignore Ethereum. Wake up, face reality. Clinging to old habits will only hinder your progress. Utilize technology, integrate into the ecosystem, and maintain curiosity. In the cryptocurrency world, the only constant is: everything is changing. Extremism is intellectual laziness. Ethereum will exist for a long time. Solana will exist for a long time. The era of hyperliquidity will exist for a long time. (And several other blockchains.) All assets will be tokenized. Billions of people will become owners. Blockchain is the cornerstone of the future of finance.

Exciting news: @LCX has just made it into the top 50 of @cv_vc and @cv_labs' latest Crypto Valley annual report. This is the perfect time to tell a story most cryptocurrency professionals have never heard: how Switzerland and Liechtenstein built the infrastructure upon which all the major blockchains, foundations, and exchanges today depend. In 2013, there was virtually no cryptocurrency infrastructure globally. No regulated brokers, no custody services, no legal framework. Almost nothing. A Danish software engineer named Niklas Nikolajsen moved to Switzerland, became fascinated with Bitcoin, and founded @BitcoinSuisseAG in the small town of Zug. He created the first cryptocurrency brokerage firm, the first custody service company, and the first cryptocurrency company to work directly with the Zug town government. By 2017, his company had handled over $1 billion in ICO funding, including from Tezos, Zilliqa, and Bancor. Today, Bitcoin Suisse manages billions of dollars in client assets. Before most people had even heard of Ethereum, this man had built an entire crypto banking layer. In 2014, a 20-year-old tech enthusiast named @VitalikButerin encountered a problem. He wanted to sell tokens to raise funds for Ethereum, but no country in the world could tell him if it was legal. The US couldn't answer, Europe couldn't answer. Lawyers everywhere said the risks were too high. He went to Liechtenstein, opened the first cryptocurrency company bank account, and established the Ethereum Foundation in a small house in Zug, Switzerland. The team nicknamed the house "Das Raumschiff," meaning "spaceship." They raised $18.3 million in 42 days through public crowdfunding. It became the first blockchain foundation in history and a legal template followed by all mainstream crypto projects. • Cardano entered Crypto Valley. • Polkadot entered Crypto Valley. • Cosmos entered Crypto Valley. • Solana went to Crypto Valley. • NEAR went to Crypto Valley. It all started in a small state of 30 people. When nobody else cared, thousands gave Ethereum a legitimate home. Then, in 2017, another team posed a different question. What if cryptocurrency exchanges were built from the outset as regulated financial institutions, using a legal framework designed specifically for token economics, instead of trying to circumvent the banking rules of 1934 surrounding digital assets? @LCX was founded that year, not in Zug, nor in Zurich, but in Vaduz, Liechtenstein. This principality of 40,000 people had previously had little presence in the cryptocurrency space. The bet was simple: Liechtenstein was about to do something no other country in the world dared to do. In 2020, Liechtenstein did it. The Token and Trusted Technology Service Providers Act (TVTG), commonly known as the Blockchain Act, made Liechtenstein the first country in the world to introduce a comprehensive framework law covering the entire token economy. Tokenization, custody, issuance, exchange, trading, protectors, depositary institutions, and identity verification—all eleven roles in the token value chain are defined and licensed in the same regulation and regulated by the Financial Markets Authority (FMA). The TVTG later became the blueprint for the EU's current Crypto Asset Market Regulation (MiCAR). LCX received eight TVTG registrations from the FMA, making it one of the most regulated cryptocurrency exchanges in Europe. LCX has a complete KYC, AML, and asset segregation process and meets bank-level compliance standards. Don Tapscott and Jimmy Wales (founder of Wikipedia) have also joined LCX as advisors. Today, LCX operates a regulated exchange and tokenization platform, as well as the Ethereum L2 layer Liberty Chain built on the OP Stack. By the end of 2025, the platform had processed 197 million transactions, with a transaction volume exceeding $5 billion. This brings us back to the "Top 50" list. CV VC's "Crypto Valley Annual Report" ranks LCX as one of the 50 largest blockchain and cryptocurrency companies in Crypto Valley. As of the end of 2025, the top 50 companies have a total valuation of $467 billion, including 10 unicorn companies. The entire ecosystem currently contains one unicorn company.
