A summary of major financial events for the week of April 6th - April 12th, all times are Beijing time:

The key theme of the market next week:
On the macro level, we should pay attention to inflation and monetary policies in China and the United States.Driven by the situation in Iran, which has pushed up energy prices, the US March CPI may reach a new high since 2022, putting greater pressure on the Federal Reserve to release its meeting minutes with a more hawkish tone. Domestically, March CPI, PPI, and financial data will be released in quick succession. Furthermore, the central banks of India, New Zealand, and South Korea will announce their interest rate decisions next week. The market expects all three central banks to maintain their current interest rates.
Geopolitically, we continue to monitor the situation in Iran.Trump demanded that Iran open the Strait of Hormuz by April 6, a "final ultimatum" rejected by Iran. Coupled with the expiration of US oil sales permits to Russia, the supply risks arising from geopolitical tensions will directly impact oil prices and safe-haven assets. Furthermore, the NATO Secretary General will visit the US to meet with Trump.
In terms of industry, Hygon Information and Tianfu Communication released their earnings reports, and Samsung Electronics' earnings forecast may be released soon. The commercial aerospace sector may see a flurry of launches, including the Long March 8A rocket; the China Electronics Information Expo will showcase cutting-edge technologies such as androids. Furthermore, the pressure on the storage supply chain reflected in Xiaomi's price adjustments, along with NIO's new car launch and the release of the first Q1 report on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange, will collectively form the main themes for stock speculation next week.
In addition, stock markets in many European countries will be closed next Monday for Easter; and A-shares and Hong Kong stocks will be closed for the Qingming Festival in China.

US March CPI, February PCE
On April 10th, the US will release its March CPI data. Affected by soaring energy prices due to the Iran war, the market widely expects inflation to rise significantly. The overall CPI is projected to increase by 0.9% month-on-month in March, a new high since June 2022, with the year-on-year growth rate expected to rise from 2.4% to 3.3%.
On April 9th, the US will release its February PCE price index, the Federal Reserve's preferred inflation indicator. The market expects core PCE inflation to rise from 0.36% month-on-month to 0.44% in February, while the year-on-year growth rate will fall from 3.1% to 3.0%. Since September of last year, core PCE and core CPI have deviated significantly due to differences in statistical methods. US fourth-quarter real GDP data will also be released on the same day.
- Central bank decisions in South Korea and New Zealand, and Japan's February worker cash income.
Next week, the central banks of India, New Zealand, and Korea will announce their interest rate decisions. The market expects all three central banks to maintain their current interest rates. Their subsequent policy paths will likely depend on the extent to which the situation in the Middle East affects their respective economies.
On April 8, Japan's Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare will release February's labor cash income data. Bloomberg predicts that the year-on-year increase in labor cash income in February may slow to 2.5% from 3.0% in January, while the year-on-year increase in real income is expected to fall to 1.1% from 1.4%. The key focus going forward will be whether the strong momentum of the spring wage negotiations is reflected in the data.
-
The Federal Reserve releases the minutes of its monetary policy meeting.
The Federal Reserve will release the minutes of its March 17-18 FOMC meeting. Markets expect the minutes to show that the committee prefers to remain on the sidelines given the high level of uncertainty caused by the Iran war. Powell hinted that the committee would only consider ignoring the oil shock once it sees progress as the impact of tariffs subsides and core inflation improves.
Then, in 2027, Goolsby, a voting member of the FOMC and president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, will speak on monetary policy.
