China, the United States, and the United Arab Emirates conducted a rare joint law enforcement operation in Dubai, focusing on combating telecom fraud and online crypto scams. Chinese state media stated that this was the first time the three countries had conducted joint international law enforcement on such cases.

Fraud den destroyed

China's Ministry of Public Security stated that the operation dismantled nine fraud dens and arrested 276 suspects. The report did not disclose all the details of the case, but clearly stated that victims suffered financial losses after transferring money to the scams.

Disguised as crypto investment

Similar cases previously disclosed by the U.S. Department of Justice show that fraud rings first build trust with victims before guiding them to invest in so-called cryptocurrency investment platforms. Once funds are transferred, they are often quickly moved to other accounts, and the victims immediately lose control.

The scope of law enforcement continues to expand

U.S. prosecutors say the investigation has pointed to multiple companies and individuals used to operate the fraud ring. The FBI's San Diego field office also stated that the operation has ed nearly 9,000 victims of cryptocurrency investment scams and estimated that approximately $562 million in losses have been recovered.
