The latest version of Bluesky has begun to include longer content in its main app distribution, allowing users to access articles, blogs, and newsletters within the platform. This update demonstrates that Bluesky is continuing to expand the AT Protocol from a short-post network into a more complete open content ecosystem.
Long articles are first accessed in card format.
This update integrates with the community project Standard.site, allowing users to browse longer articles from a broader network of AT Protocol applications. Bluesky calls this network the "Atmosphere," which includes platforms for independent writers such as Leaflet, pckt, and Offprint.

Currently, this content will appear as dynamic link cards, similar to an enhanced preview. Bluesky stated that this is only an initial integration, and the reading and display methods will continue to be improved.
WordPress continues to expand after the action.
This marks the second time Bluesky has directly integrated community project capabilities into its main application. In February of this year, its private messaging service, Germ, was integrated into Bluesky in a similar manner, becoming part of its functional extension.
Prior to this, WordPress had also released a plugin that allowed websites to publish content to Atmosphere. This solution also uses the Standard.site record format, enabling blog content to be written directly to the AT Protocol, rather than just being shared as an external link.
Open distribution differs from X
According to this design, applications compatible with the AT Protocol can read the relevant blog and article content. Bluesky aims to promote an open social network: content data can be freely distributed, users can access it through different clients, and it can also be migrated between different personal data servers.
Currently, in addition to Bluesky itself, Eurosky, Blacksky, Northsky, and others also offer personal data server services. In contrast, X's long-form content remains primarily within its own application system, with external websites mostly only able to display it through embedding.
In addition to the long article integration, Bluesky version 1.122 also updated the GIF selector and image viewer, expanded the account-level review tags, and fixed some iOS video upload loss issues.
