Meta is embedding AI more deeply into its business communication products. The company announced the global launch of its WhatsApp Business customer support bot, named Meta Business Agent. This product targets small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and aims to transform WhatsApp from a simple communication channel into a software tool capable of handling daily operations.
It has been tested in multiple countries for nearly two years.

Prior to its official global launch, Meta had been testing WhatsApp Business's AI agent in markets such as India and Mexico for nearly two years. With this launch, businesses can now use the tool within WhatsApp to handle customer support matters.
Meta also disclosed that it is testing a new feature that allows Business Agents to aggregate overnight chat content and generate daily briefings and related insights. Currently, this test is available to select WhatsApp Business, Instagram Pro, Messenger, and Meta Business Suite accounts.

Functionality continues to extend to operational scenarios
According to Meta, this AI agent will later incorporate more capabilities, including market research, identifying product selling points, managing user calendars, and connecting to external tools to extract competitive information.
This means the product's positioning is no longer limited to automatically replying to customer service messages, but is beginning to extend to a more complete merchant workflow. Meta hopes to use this to improve the efficiency of businesses in handling sales, service, and operational tasks within its platform.
The pricing model has begun to be clarified.
Meta stated that it will integrate this AI agent service into certain subscription tiers of WhatsApp Business Premium and charge businesses for it. For large enterprises, the fee will be calculated based on the number of tokens consumed by the AI agent.
From a product roadmap perspective, Meta is combining generative AI with its social communication portal, attempting to create a continuous paid service for merchants. For WhatsApp Business, this also means that its business model is shifting from messaging services to AI-driven software subscriptions.
