The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) issued a statement on the 6th, saying that it carried out an airstrike on a large petrochemical complex in the Asaluyeh region of southern Iran that day. The complex is Iran's largest petrochemical complex.
The statement said that the Israeli military has struck Iran’s two major petrochemical complexes, severely damaging more than 85% of Iran’s petrochemical export capacity.
The statement said that the facilities in Asaluyeh contain critical infrastructure for the production of materials such as explosives and ballistic missile propellants, making them a vital raw material supply hub for Iran's missile industry. The Israeli military will continue to intensify its strikes against Iran's core weapons production infrastructure, aiming to cause "widespread and sustained damage" to its military manufacturing capabilities.
Earlier on the 6th, Israeli Defense Minister Katz said that Israeli forces had launched airstrikes on Iran's largest petrochemical facility. According to Iranian media reports that day, petrochemical plants in Asaluyeh and South Pars in Bushehr province were "attacked by enemy forces," with several explosions heard. Tasnim News Agency, citing local officials, reported that the United States and Israel had launched another attack, damaging petrochemical production facilities in Asaluyeh. The extent of the damage is currently being investigated, and there are no reports of casualties.
