Apple is pushing its latest Apple Intelligence update directly to frequently used system apps. Beyond text and image generation, AI is now involved in web page organization, password updates, call assistance, workflow creation, and photo reconstruction, significantly expanding its scope.

Safari adds page monitoring

Safari now features AI-powered tab management, which automatically organizes tabs by topic and adds related pages to existing tab groups. Apple has also added a page monitoring feature that alerts users when webpage content changes, making it ideal for tracking information such as prices and news updates.

Apple says Safari can now generate custom extensions based on text prompts to modify how web pages are displayed. Previously, this type of operation typically required developers to write code manually.

Telephone and Shortcuts Expand AI Capabilities

The Phone app now features cross-app contextual capabilities. Apple says that during a call, the system can retrieve relevant information from apps like Mail and Messages. For example, when calling an airline, the Phone app can retrieve flight information from your email inbox in real time.

Shortcuts have also been redesigned. Users no longer need to piece together processes step by step; they can simply describe their needs in natural language, and the app will automatically generate the corresponding workflow. This makes what was previously a more advanced automation tool easier for ordinary iPhone users to use.

Photo and image editing continue to be enhanced

Image Playground adds an easier-to-use natural language editing method and introduces a new model that generates images that more closely resemble real photos. Users can edit individual objects by clicking, selecting, or painting, and can also adjust the size of generated images to fit different formats.

The Photos app's cleanup tools have also been updated, with improved completion and object removal effects, and a new AI tool to extend photo edges. Another feature, Spatial Reframing, allows users to reposition subjects or objects in the image, which are then filled in with new content by the device's spatial model and image generation model.

  • Messaging app adds AI-powered reply suggestions
  • The calendar supports creating events using natural language.
  • The system supports one-click password updates for leaked passwords.
