Ethereum Foundation co-executive director Wang Xiaowei has decided to resign after returning from her vacation. This comes shortly after another co-executive director announced their departure, and the recent series of high-level changes at the foundation has heightened community concerns about the stability of its governance and execution.
He decided to resign after taking leave.
Wang Xiaowei stated that the leave of absence gave her time to rethink her future priorities and personal plans. In her public statement, she wrote that she increasingly believes now is the right time to step down.
Her departure comes after Tomasz Stańczak announced his resignation as co-executive director. Stańczak had previously stated he would leave after assisting with the leadership transition. The Ethereum Foundation is a Swiss-based nonprofit organization that has long been responsible for supporting the development of the Ethereum ecosystem.
Bastian Aue will temporarily assume more responsibilities.
During Wang Xiaowei's leave of absence, Bastian Aue, a member of the foundation's board of directors, participated in the leadership transition. With the departure of two co-executive directors, he assumed greater organizational and coordination responsibilities during the transition phase.
This also means that the foundation will remain in a period of management adjustment in the short term. As a key supporting institution in the Ethereum ecosystem, continuous personnel changes at the foundation often directly affect external judgments about its execution pace and organizational stability.
At least eight people have left in the last five months.
According to CoinDesk, at least eight senior members of the Ethereum Foundation have left in the past five months. This round of personnel changes is increasing community scrutiny of the foundation's priorities, governance methods, and strategic direction.

At the same time, Ethereum also faces stronger competitive pressure from other blockchain networks. With internal adjustments and external competition combined, the foundation's future organizational structure and ecosystem support direction are expected to remain a key focus of market attention.
In her statement, Wang Xiaowei mentioned that the significance of Ethereum has never belonged to any one position, organization, or point in time. She described it as a long-term cause driven by a wide range of contributors.
