Solana ecosystem DeFi platform Jupiter announced a new version of its main exchange router, Metis V8, focusing on reducing the discrepancy between the estimated quotes seen by users and the final transaction results. While the time from clicking to a transaction being recorded on the chain is very short, market maker quotes, other transactions, and AMM pool prices can all change during that period.
The four mechanisms are being optimized and implemented simultaneously.
Jupiter stated that Metis V8 attempts to optimize transaction quality simultaneously across three stages: routing, state updates, and execution timing, so that the final transaction result is closer to the quote seen before placing the order, and strives for the best possible price.
- Penalize Solana DEX for its historically poor slippage performance.
- Multiple candidate paths are retained until closer to the execution time before making an on-chain selection.
- Generate quotes based on the status of the two most recent slots.
- Quotation response time reduced to less than 100 milliseconds.
Jupiter has released a series of new products this month.
This router upgrade occurred within a month of Jupiter's flurry of product activity. Earlier this month, the platform announced partnerships with Jump Crypto and Securitize to advance compliant on-chain stock trading. Subsequently, Jupiter Lend partnered with Bitwise and Ethena to launch institutional-grade DeFi vault products.
The report mentions that the Bitwise x Ethena vault's USDe market deployment size was $200 million, which has increased to $531 million since its launch. In addition to these significant moves, Jupiter recently launched on-chain poker features, a token information and news layer (VRFD), and updated its mobile wallet interface.
Jupnet's next update is nearing release.

In addition to the router upgrade, Jupiter co-founder Siong Ong also revealed that the team is "very close" to the next update for Jupnet. He stated that the next update will be a "live launch," meaning the product may go directly to its official release.

Jupiter has released several product updates in the past month, while Metis V8 focuses more on optimizing the underlying transaction experience. For users who rely on aggregated routing to complete exchanges, a narrowing of the gap between quoted prices and execution results in greater predictability of transaction outcomes.
