Pi Network recently reminded mainnet node operators who have not yet completed the upgrade to update their software to Protocol v25 as soon as possible, otherwise they may lose their connection to the mainnet. The project team stated that most mainnet nodes have already completed the upgrade, and the entire process is similar to previous protocol updates, typically taking only a few minutes.
Most nodes have completed the upgrade.
The announcement indicates that this update is for Pi Network Mainnet node operators. The project core team stated that most mainnet nodes have already switched to v25, and operators who have not yet upgraded should do so as soon as possible to maintain normal network connectivity.
Pi Network has not yet announced a final deadline for this upgrade, but has clearly stated that delayed updates may cause nodes to disconnect from the network. The official technical documentation for the upgrade process has also been provided.
Nodes are divided into three participation methods
Pi Network's node mechanism does not employ Bitcoin's common proof-of-work model; instead, it operates based on the Stellar Consensus Protocol. Nodes form a verification set through trust relationships and reach consensus on transactions accordingly.
- Computer App: Provides a desktop interface for viewing balances and using chat functions.
- Node: After passing the screening process, you can participate in blockchain validity verification and submit transactions.
- SuperNode: Responsible for core network verification tasks, requiring long-term online presence and a stable network.
Node screening is linked to KYC.
The project team stated that the selection of Node and SuperNode will take into account multiple criteria, including online time, network quality, processor and memory configuration, community contributions, and trust scores based on the security community.
Selected applicants will need to complete KYC before officially joining the network and assuming corresponding responsibilities. This upgrade notification signifies that Pi Network is continuing to push for version unification of mainnet nodes to reduce the impact of older versions on network operation.
